I would buy it but I’m more interested in videoing so I choose Canon which is way better in my opinion.
I cannot believe that people start the Canon vs Nikon argument when someone is selling a camera. One is not better than the other and if you believe that you are an idiot. I have a D3000 and its a great camera but I also upgraded to the D7000 and its a magnificent camera. Your rationale is 100% correct. Go for a 7000, I recommend it.
a) I’m a Canon kinda guy.
b) I’m not in the market for DSLRs anyway

get the t2i or t3i with a tamron lens or an adapter. seeing as autofocus isnt an issue youll still save more if your looking for just film

@Wuzzysbrand06 Build quality, materials, feel, ergonomics and lack of logic in the interface. I guess if you start out with Canon for some strange reason, then you might not really notice (or know what you are missing). A had more hardware issues with the Canons (2 SLRs and 2 DSLRs) than all other cameras of all brands I’ve owned combined. If you like Canon then more power to you. I’m not trying to argue. Just my personal experience.

Nikon screws shooters & wants $400.00 to shoot tethered & view and over $800.00 for Nikon WT.
Bet you are not using it or maybe even lost, right?
Nevertheless, just get the ATG AK1 Un-Tethered Systems and it will be compatible for many camera models.

get good glass and a body that you are comfortable with whatever the brand name may be. i assume you want the d7000 for its video capabilities and i can’t fault you for that, but you may find a canon can suit your needs more capably. you’ll know a great lens when you find it young padawan–you must seek the F1.8 symbol. heh

The D3100 is a pre beginner camera and are going for $150 used.
Jumping to a D7000 is a big jump.
Like going from 1st grade to a freshman.
Or from Yugo to a Civic.
The driver will hit you over $400.00.
